Welcome to the Suscom website. This website covers
and supports the work of
Community Environment
Associates (CEA), a consultancy specialising in policy and
practice work on environmental and sustainable development issues
at the local level;

Co-Director of CEA
Chris Church is a highly-experienced trainer and
facilitator. He delivers training through CEA (see CEA Training
& Facilitation) but is also a trainer for:

Talk Action (on Facilitation,
Communication & Climate Change, and Working with Communities)

COIN – the Climate
Outreach information Network (on various aspects of Climate
Change)
Chris is also a Director of the ‘Mapping
for Change’ social enterprise, which offers a range of
mapping and GIS services to public and third sector bodies.
He is a member of the London
Sustainable Development Commission and a Trustee of London
21.

We have just finished a report on the role
of Civil Society Organisations and Sustainable Consumption
for the EU-funded ‘Action Town’ research programme
run by WWF, ANPED and others. You can download it here.
Recent work
includes:

"Hard to Reach? Diversity and Environment"
- a report published by Capacity
Global, and co-written with Maria Adebowale in September
2009. This report looks at why diversity is an issue
for the environmental sector and why it is important
that the environmental movement within the UK develops
to become genuinely inclusive. We are running training
related to this work - see here

Mapping action on Climate Change - Chris is
currently working with Mapping for Change on two innovative
maps of local action on climate change. The first one,
covering North Dorset, is online here

The Sustainability Challenge: implications
for chief executives in the third sector. This
is a publication from the Association of Chief Executives
of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO), launched in April
2009. Chris Church co-wrote this with Steve Evison,
Director of Resources for Change, a consultancy, with
whom CEA are doing several pieces of work. You can download
